What is Zocor?
Zocor is a lipid-lowering agent that belongs to the HMG CoA reductase inhibitor group of drugs, which are also referred to as “statins”. These drugs function by decreasing the level of triglycerides and low-density lipoproteins in the blood. Zocor also effectively increases the level of the high-density lipoprotein in the blood. Thus, this drug lowers cholesterol and can greatly decrease one’s chances of suffering a heart attack or stroke.

Some of the more serious side effects include joint pain, fever, unexplained muscle pain, memory problems, swelling, weakness, and confusion. Zocor use can also cause dry skin, decrease in urination, thirst, nausea, loss of appetite, and blurred vision. If you experience any of these, seek medical help as soon as possible.
