What is Indocin?
It is a prescription medication administered to reduce inflammation (soreness, fever, stiffness, swelling and redness) and relieve pain caused by various conditions such as gout, bursitis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, injuries of bones and muscles (strains and sprains), tendonitis and osteoarthritis as well as menstrual cramps, pain and swelling after setting dislocated or broken bones.
How does Indocin work?
The active ingredient of Indocin is a chemical from the group of non-steroid anti-inflammatory agents called indomethacin. It works by blocking the synthesis of certain substances called prostaglandins, which are responsible for the inflammation and pain. Therefore, Indocin treats the symptoms of inflammation and pain, but it does not treat the very disease that has caused these symptoms.

Inform your doctor about any adverse reactions you experience while taking Indocin. If you have faced any severe adverse reaction, you should stop taking the drug.
How to take Indocin?
Indocin should be used exactly as prescribed by a doctor. The key rule is to take it for the shortest possible duration and at the lowest effective dose. Dosage regimen depends on the very condition treated and on its severity; it should be decided by a healthcare professional only. The maximum daily dose for an adult should not be higher than 200 mg.
Are there any contraindications to taking this drug?
